It has taken me twenty-six days to publish my first post. I forget that my blog is not only for poetry, but for me to share my experience; blogging forces me to be introspective. All I write comes from personal views and then some fictions.
Gosh, now this minute,I'm intimidated by the letters on my keyboard, almost don't know what to write ( been out of practice) and I'm floundering; deleting, rewriting and brainstorming. I've come to a conclusion that I am a fake. Yea.how do I explain the loss of words and work as an excuse?

Lack of Evidence
(Singing)
Hush little fetus, don’t you cry
mama’s not gonna see you grow to child
Hush little egg, please don’t you hatch
Cos mama’s not here to keep you warm.
The Nigerian law makes it a crime to perform
or to obtain an abortion, labelling it as illegal
that I can agree with, people who still do it are
ill from a
disease that is making a meal of their body, and
I’m sick of seeing them place an order
to be served Egal to
God every time they
snuff out the light and blow into nothingness
the existence from which man was formed
cos how do you explain 610,000 future you’ve pushed
into oblivion and the time you reset
the minute you flushed down the drain
the happiness that could have embraced
joy with scalpels that
tore open your bellies and
vomited the evidence of your…well let’s just say evidence
and in silence you remain
knowing that nothing could be used against you
acquitting yourself of first degree murder as the plantiff
suffered a
terrible fate which has left its attorney defenceless without
his key witness.
Now the case has been thrown out of court for lack of….Yea,
you can say it again
But do you hear the shatter of the broken lullaby sung by
lips cracked
with no gloss to give spark to the voice that chants the
melody?
that is the life that could have been the save-your heart
lunged for
but no air to breathe your last…
Then you’d remember
how your baby appealed to live
wanting to see and touch your face with hands full of trust
looking to cover your mistakes with glues of toothless gum
not judging, even though you were an accessory to an act
meant only for couples…
But now it’s too late,
A statistics as the child who died the same day
you gave yours for the sake of burying the evidence

N.I.G.E.R.I.A
If I could ascribe a common letter for anarchy
and nepotism, I’d say…N
Cos as a people we have never seen eye to…I
As all we've done is “eat” up the future of the self-conferred
title
we tag ourselves, alas (forgetting) it’s the verb
in grEAT but we fail to see the…G.
Vain we have become to no one’s gain
spinning stories that have begun to wan…E
of how justice will be claimed for all maimed
yet if our voice is as loud as a lions
then why can’t we roa…R.
Letting our whips crackle and the demons
sent to hades for the crime and bloodshed
as all in favour of no amnesty nor dialogue say….I.
We have become a nation lesser than the
dreams of our father fathers fathers
A dream though little blossomed to forge
the name we now self loathingly take pride in.
A country that defined our identity is now a shadow
of the dreams of heroes past
A nation where her citizens are no longer bound in freedom
lacking peace and tranquility
deride peace and unity.
A nation unstable and in the throes of bowing
in veneration to shambles
forgetting there is strength in numbers like
words will be meaningless without vowels
just like her name will be pronounceless without an….A

The Nigerian-ess in us
Many might wonder how I came about this but I bet you wouldn't want me to launch into a monologue about how in my bathroom , with the water cascading down my head, the thought exploded in my brain?
Hehehe...okay, you can see right through my act.

Under the Mango tree
Under the mango tree
Here the kids are wild and free
Without care or worry
Aiming at the fruits with intensity, never weary
Under the Mango tree
The adults gather the children
Ready to share stories that were passed on
Some scary, some cheery
In the cover of dark
The sound of a dog’s bark
Is lost in the embrace of lovers
Cocooned and sheltered under the mango tree
Here the kids are wild and free
Without care or worry
Aiming at the fruits with intensity, never weary
Under the Mango tree

Ready to share stories that were passed on
Some scary, some cheery
In the cover of dark

Cocooned and sheltered under the mango tree

Change Vs Career....Nigeria in view
"Most people use change to promote their career while a few use their career to promote change" words uttered by Sarah Palin during a speech. She was the republican candidate for Vice president and also Governor for Alaska before resigning.
Most people viewed her as a "rookie", some said she was "wet behind the ears and she didn't know politics, Whichever sides they took, she was celebrated. Her name has gone into the history books for being the first Female governor and Republican candidate for vice president.
I will like to state that I take a liberal stand. I have no affinity for any political party. I am only a concern citizen of Nigeria.
In Nigeria, I'm yet to see one who will use his/her career to promote change Most of our leaders use change to promote their career and the downward trend in national affair is proof of this.
During elections, their campaigns and speeches have a predictable trend...
"If you elect me, I will provide water, electricity, roads, good health facility, education"....
All of which should be basic right for citizen. Their dangling carrot promises quickly forgotten like a patient suffering amnesia when they assume office.
I will like to see a governor, senator, president, local governor chairman, house of representative, or persons of authority use their career to promote change In Nigeria.
I'm tired of the merry-go-round ride already!!!!!

From Playroom to Bedroom
"Uncle muhammad, uncle muhammad is here"! kafiat exclaims leaving the plates she was washing rushing towards him with a knowing smile .
"Kafiat, how are you today, hope you have been a good girl," muhammad asks after a brief hug.
"Yes uncle, so what did you bring for us."
"You know Ramadan will soon end, and you promised me a dress.
"of course I did, you will soon have as many dresses as you'd like" uncle responds
Ehen, Ha! Plenty dress,I will always pray for you, Allah will make you big.
"Amen! Are your parents at home, I want to speak to them
"Yes uncle..just go in" returning to wash the plates she forgot in her excitement.
You see, muhammad isn't really her uncle, he lives in the neighbourhood, but isn't that what we call people older than us ?
well back to my story
